There has been a radical advancement in the field of Vascular surgery in recent years. With the advent of newer technologies and ever expanding hardware options, this speciality is evolving rapidly with each day. There is a crying need for developing endovascular training programs for people responsible for treating vascular disorders so that they can keep abreast of the developments. Moreover, hands-on training programs are a rarity. Keeping this objective in mind, EVOLVE (Endovascular Hands-on Live Education Program) came into being.

EVOLVE is the brainchild of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery team at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi under the capable leadership of Dr.(Surg Cmde) V.S. Bedi (NM). The first workshop was held from 1st to 3rd May, 2014 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. It was conducted by Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and 17 live cases were performed which covered the whole spectrum of vascular disorders from carotid stenting to below the knee interventions. A large armamentarium of hardware was at display and utilised. It was attended by Vascular Surgeons, Interventional Radiologists and Cardiologists constituting a group of vascular specialists from all across the country who participated actively and each case was subjected to scrutiny and healthy discussion. Each of the participants also got an opportunity to wash up and get hands-on experience in different cases of their choice. In addition to that, the rest of the delegates watched the proceedings from an adjacent room where the live cases were being displayed by multiple cameras and audiovisual communication.

It is our endeavour to continue this kind of training program over the coming years and impart our knowledge and experience to others. This doubles up as a platform for active discussion and healthy exchange of ideas, besides enhancing the approach and skill levels of the delegates. This can be used as a module for changing an approach to vascular diseases in their respective centres.
