Dr. Ambarish Satwik was awarded the Gold Medal and the Vinayak Kirpekar Award for his Masters in Surgery from Shivaji University, Kolhapur in 2002. He held the position of Surgical Specialist in the Department of Surgery at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi till 2007 after which he joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in the Department of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery. He completed his Vascular DNB training from the same institute in 2011 (was awarded the best DNB trainee) and was thereafter promoted to the post of Consultant in the department.
Dr. Satwik is a versatile and extremely competent vascular surgeon. He is a prolific speaker and has won many awards and trophies for his national and international lectures. He has presented several papers and posters at various academic forums . In addition to his journal publications, he has also co-authored a chapter titled ‘Endovascular Armamentarium’ in the Handbook of Vascular Surgery published in Feb 2009 by Elsevier. He doubles up as a Co-Principal Investigator for various clinical trials being conducted in the department.
Dr. Satwik has ample experience in surgical and endovascular management of a large spectrum of vascular disorders including aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, critical limb ischemia, varicose veins and vascular access for hemodialysis. Apart from his busy schedule in the department, he also finds time for his literary pursuits. He is Member of the Editorial Board of ‘The Ganga Ram Journal’. He is a Columnist for various magazines and publications such as Outlook, India Today, Tehelka, Biblio and Time Out. He also has a novel under his belt called ‘Perineum’, a sexual history of the British Colonial Project published by Penguin in March 2007.
