Dr. (Surg Cmde) Varinder Singh Bedi(NM), completed his Masters in Surgery from University of Mumbai in 1988. He underwent specialization training in Vascular Surgery from Bombay Hospital, Mumbai and further enhanced his skills  in three Vascular Surgery centres across Germany (Katharinen Hospital, Stuttgart; Porz am Rhein, University of Cologne and Evangelical Krankenhaus,Mulheim). He was instrumental in establishing  the Vascular Centre at Army Hospital, R&R, New Delhi in 1995 , and served  the Indian Navy from 1983 till 2012. Thereafter, he joined Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi as Chairman & Senior Consultant in the Department of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery. Under the capable leadership of Dr. (Surg Cmde) V.S. Bedi(NM), the Department of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has reached new heights.

Dr. Bedi is an international figure and a key opinion leader in the world of Vascular Surgery with numerous paper publications, paper presentations and national as well as international trophies under his belt. He is the President of the Vascular Society of India and the First Member from India for the Trans-Atlantic Society Consensus (TASC).  He has been bestowed with honorary corresponding membership of the German vascular society. He was decorated with the Nao Sena Medal in 2003 by the Government of India for active role played during the Gujarat Earthquake.

Dr. Bedi has special academic interest in the Management of Aortic Aneurysms and has one of the largest experiences in the country on Endovascular management of Aortic aneurysms. He also has the  largest series of Eversion Endarterectomies for management of carotid stenosis. He is the First to perform Modified Eversion Endarterectomy in India.

He is a vision oriented person with the highest professional standards and has contributed largely to the development and recognition of Vascular Surgery in India. He seeks to establish a comprehensive training program for vascular specialists which can be implemented across the country to enhance patient care. He also wants to create an environment where healthcare costs can be reduced and treatment for vascular diseases can be made more affordable to the masses.
